Statement on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Agate Strategies is committed to the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).

DEI does not exclude, show preference, or discriminate, but creates an intentional process for ensuring that biases, conscious or unconscious, are not the driving factors when selecting new hires, board members, or recipients of services.

Diverse voices ensure that we are thinking about issues and their impacts from many different angles. Without diverse voices, ideas, and perspectives, we run the risk of missing opportunities to create better and longer-lasting impacts and outcomes.

Equity is all about creating fairness at the starting line, not showing preference to one group over another. However, many groups have been disproportionately disadvantaged by certain policies or environments. Creating a fair starting line often means creating policies or standards of practice that guide decision making to promote fairness.

Inclusion means not just creating a seat at the table for diverse voices but welcoming and including those voices.

DEI makes organizations stronger, and strong organizations get better results.
